Rhino Reforestation maintains a brushing and spacing program each year that provide opportunities for the survival and growth of young conifers to the free-growing stage who are in competition with plants, shrubs and other trees. In areas with disturbed land, pioneer vegetation aggressively regenerates and competes with the planted trees for nutrients and moisture, thus creating a deleterious environment for the young conifers.
